I agree with Tex and Bgw. It sounds like something is slipping (bad teeth/gear spots?) and it would be worth it to remove some panels and attempt to watch what is going on. Hopefully, you can isolate the sound to find the part that is acting a bit wonky.

I'm back guys with an update :
due to the crazy weather here in New Orleans along with the recent tornado in my area,
i haven't been able to address the problems with my top!
the newest issue now is top light on the dash comes on and the top will not move whirring noise from passenger side (still)
I disconnected the battery and the light goes off after a couple of tries the top works this problem is intermittent

Is the whirring noise from the front or the back? If from the back, the cable may have jumped the track.

 

The noise is coming from the passenger rear of the car( I posted a video of it on the first page of this post)
