Hello All
My name Is David Watson I am 63 and I live in Wilmington NC And yes I have bought a silver 2003 SC430 with 111,000 miles for what I think is a good price of 12,000.00 From my local Toyota dealer. There were a few issues needed front tires and the dealer put them on, the antennae did not go all the way down, so they order new parts to fix, plus the passenger door light needed replacing. I had it a week and found the driver's mirror doesn't go up and down, so I ask them to check it out when the parts come for the other repairs. It is an as is sale because of the age no warranty. but so far so good . I seen a car faxs and I am pretty sure I need to have timing belt replace and plugs. I need to replace the radio because I love my music while drive. I been reading the forms and looking at Youtube to which I decided to go with crutchfield and order the Jensen VX7021 with gps and free back up camera . This gives me Blue tooth and USB input for thumb drives which holds a lot of music ( I really like to go weeks before I hear a song again.) Oh yeah I am going to replace the foam around the door speakers too. Thanks to the forms for directing to how to do something like this and a youtube video on how to remove the door cover. The only other thing I have found a issue is wind noise passenger side window maybe, still tracking. So that's it great little fun car , lots of compliments. Any ideas or suggestion are appreciated.

David

Welcome to the forum. Front tires, miles and the early model and others issues reported here would lead me to maybe have the upper control arm bushings replaced.

i bought a set of aftermarket poly ones but have not installed them or the poly sway bar bushings yet.

known issue with 2002-2005 sc's.

evidenced by steering wander and especially front tire wear

Yeah, I saw a lot of folks point out issues with bushing, Ask dealer to check out and they told no problem, but with age and miles I plan to have them replace. When I first try out the car I was sure that was the problem I was seeing , but the new tires made a big difference. Thanks for reminding me to still have them changed.

My car had pirelli centurados and rode poorly and wandered.

shop mistakenly installed Michelin pilot 4s's Less wander. Better ride. Still lots of kickback on square edges.

900 miles later they swapped out the 4s's and installed Michelin pilot super sport tires.

wow. No wander. Tiny amount of groove tracking. Better cornering. Soft on square edges.

soft summer tires although, great for so cal.

still going to swap the sway bar bushings coming up. High speed hard turns are not inspiring yet.
