Quick update on my Techstream experience. I had an old W7 32 bit laptop I had used for a number of years without issue with cable firmware version 2 and Techstream V10. I programmed my new TPMS in June of 18 and I hadn't used it in a while. I tried to use it last fall and couldn't get the system to connect. I then downloaded a copy of W10 32 bit and installed it on the same computer. I hadn't had the need to use it so it has just not been a priority. I finally decided to get a version 2 cable again from AliExpress and it said it would have Techstream V15 on the disc. It did not. It had V13. The cable was in fact V2. I decided to install V13 anyway and the drivers for the cable installed without issue. The cable connected and my VIN was displayed so I was pleased. However, when I actually used the software, it would crash to the desktop every time I tried to look at the data. So I uninstalled V13 and installed V10 that I had been using in the past. V10 connected and I was able to navigate anywhere I wanted within the software. I did read that someone in this forum said that V13 was a problem. Not sure I actually proved that but it didn't work for me.

Here you go. Again, the cable is in fact version 2. The included Techstream version is not 15. It is version 13. It did not work for me. Version 10 worked and I have version 12 that BGW posted. I have not tried version 12 since 10 seems fine. Your mileage may vary. Also, included cable drivers are for 32 bit not 64.

I ordered the V15 and that is what came and is now loaded on my son's laptop. It came in both a 32 bit and 64 bit version. However the 64bit version had a virus, but the 32 bit loaded fine. However the cable that came with it is a version 1.4.?. I want to order a 2.4 version for the son's 05 SC. Thanks for the link.

I just did a Techstream search on EBay and there are many offers. Some is even with software Ver 16. I don’t know the legitimate of the ads. It’s EBay.
A search on Amazon also yielded several offers, many with 1.4 firmware. Others do not state the ver. I would buy from Amazon, but need to talk to the seller about the firmware ver.

There is no 32 bit or 64 bit version of Techstream. It is all 32 bit. It is the drivers for the cable that make the difference. 32 bit programs like Techstream work fine on a 64 bit computer. Even Microsoft Office 2016 is 32 bit for all computers. I don't think the version of Techstream makes much difference. I have been told that version 8 and up is the only thing you can use with W10. I have never confirmed that. I don't really know why the version 13 that came with my cable didn't work. Once I saw that my version 10 worked I didn't investigate any further. I'm not sure what the differences are in usability between the versions.

Was the 32 bit or the 64 bit for the Techstream or the cable firmware version? Were you able to clean the virus?

The Techstream software versions updated for newer model vehicles. For our SCs, version 8 and up should be ok. Ver 13 had bugs and crashed during some tests i.e health check.
I don't know the reason for updated firmware. I was able to purchase ver 2.04 firmware cable few years back, but it seemed like all offers on Amazon and EBay are now ver 1.4. No idea why?

 

iolmaster is correct, the 32bit or 64bit has to do with the driver software.
My AV software just strips the file but I can tell it to put it back and probably install it.
