I feel that there are certain features that enhance the look of the SC. I agree with Retro's assumption that with stock OEM look the SC is missing a little "POP" when the top goes into the trunk. The lines just lose a little "Ahhhh factor." With that being said, I took his post to ask how to make the SC look more aggressive when the top is down. Thus I replied stating that deeper wheels and staggered stance will make a world of difference, top up and top down. That's just how I interpreted the question at hand. Hope I understood correctly.
Additionally, I think that Prasha was stating the he gets more compliments with the top down due to his modifications as well as that it's a hard top convertible ( + or -). Not specifically a disagreement, just a difference of opinions of third party persons.

You understood me perfectly, Shawn. If I could put my finger on exactly what it is, I could communicate it better. I think your comment about the 'lines' is very accurate. The SC just looks 'flat' with the top down.
It's a beautiful car either way (or I wouldn't have fallen in love with it when I was actually shopping for a different car.) I just want to make it as attractive as it is with the top up. A more aggressive stance and a change in wheels definitely will make a difference. I am also looking at things like gills on the side, etc... to make it stand out a bit more.
When the top is down, I think Sebring. It just looks like a totally different car. It becomes flat and square.
In an effort to settle this for me, I just ordered a set of Maisto 1:18 die-cast models of the SC430 in convertible and hardtop versions. I think it will be much easier to visualize what I want to do.
That should make it simple to play around with the stance, wheel fitment, etc... (in combination with my 3D printer)

...with top up....

That I like. The changes are subtle enough that you almost couldn't tell what they were. It doesn't take away from the stock beauty at all. Thanks for posting that. What kit is it?
...the rear bumper & side skirts are Job Design.....the front bumper is a one off custom, the top half is 06' Sc & bottom half is 08' Crown Athlete.....this creation was done by CL member "gottagetmine". I was just lucky enough to buy it from him when he decided to sale the Sc & buy a Ls
Mr Mark, can you take a picture of your car with the top down showing the entire car? The close up is pretty impressive by itself though.
Retro, a number of us have the same opinion that the car is a bit stodgy once the top goes down. One thing that helps is when you have all four windows up rather than just the front two windows up. Of course that requires the mod that is being covered in another thread. (That mod will also cut down on a little of the wind whip too.)
