Roof - maintenance?
I live in constant fear that my hardtop is going to seize up or break costing me more to fix than the car is worth.
Does anyone know if there is regular maintenance you can do to keep it running smooth and not damage/overload the motors?
I'm thinking of spraying lithium grease on all the joints. It might not help, but it shouldn't hurt, either.
I can't find anything on the manual or this forum.
Thoughts? Ideas? What have you done?
thanks!

JohnnyCake and I have a "Top Servicing Party" like twice a year.
White lithium grease on all the pivot points that we can find, and 303 protectant on all the rubber gaskets.
I don't know if the top NEEDS it but, it makes us feel better to do it.

Hi. Greg,
In order to perform the lube the top motion has to be stopped at some point. I think that I have read on this forum that that is a no-no so I'm concerned about doing that. Obviously, since you and JohnnyCake do this,my concern is unfounded, right?

Thanks Habious, that's what I was thinking of doing... I think my 2 year old son and I are going to have our own party today: he'll pretend to drive while I lube away!

No, quite the opposite. Lot's of folks stop the motion in the middle to be able to clean the rear window on the inside. Just try to stop it close enough to the middle where it isn't stressing the joints and is semi-balanced.

^ What he said. If you stop the roof right when the rear window is perpendicular (straight up and down), it should balance without any problems. I do this at least once a month to clean the inside of the rear glass.....its very stable.
Have fun...
