I called a parts supplier about the air vent control. On the passenger side the directional **** is gone. Looks like I will have to replace the entire grill. The parts guy said the vent control is screwed in. Looks like I will have to go in via the glove box.
Has anyone ever replaced the air vent control on a SC430? How do you get the glove box out of the way?
I believe there is one screw and then clips. Go to sewel lexus in texas sigh up with your club lexus id and you will get a decent discount. If you have the parts that came out of the vent you could put them back in. Remove vent and you will see how it works
...are you referring to the passenger vent, next to the nav screen or closest to the door ??? I took the vents out closest to the nav screen & don't recall a screw, they clip/snap in.Looking at the vents closer to the door, I wouldn't think you would take them out through the glovebox either. It looks like you could use a pry tool or small screwdriver to pop them out the dash. I must warn that these vents are delicate & consist of about 10-12 small pieces, that criss cross to make the vent. Take your time & look at it closely when you get it out of the dash.It shouldn't be hard to do, but just detailed in parts. If you could buy the whole vent that would make the job even easier, just pop the old one out & pop the new one in...hope this helps some

FYI The [ wood portion ] of the vent can be removed by releasing some tabs once you have the vent and the wood removed as a unit . You can buy any color vent on ebay as long as it is for the correct side being passenger or driver. The color does not matter because you can remove your old one and clip it onto the replacement vent from ebay . I have seen them sell for 45,00 up to 85.00 . You also could repair your old one if you can find all of the parts and have patients and take photos before you disassemble .
