Why is the list price in the US $ 61000 and in Canada the same car list for $53000 US money?

 

The MSRP for the 2003 SC430 in Canada with everything including NAV is Canadian$89,000. It's equivalent in US$ fluctuates with the exhange rate.

Based on today's exchange rate of 0.664, Canadian $89,000 is equivalent to US$59,096.

The exhange rate between the two currencies was as low as around 0.627 last year.

 

So a fully loaded US car would list for $67000 still $8000 DIFFERENCE . Lexus is getting sued over it.

 

"Four lawsuits filed Wednesday charge that automakers have conspired with dealers to charge up to 30% more for new cars sold in the USA than in Canada.

According to the lawsuits, a 2002 Ford Windstar LX minivan has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $16,448 in Canada and $22,340 in the USA, excluding the destination charge. Both prices are in U.S. dollars. A 2002 Lexus SC 430 coupe has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $53,151 in Canada and $61,055 in the USA."
