Default Going to purchase sc430

Hello SC430 drivers and fellow Club Lexus members,

I will be purchasing an sc430 (preferably budget between 10 - 15k and would like some feedback on my current deal.

I am currently located west coast and will be paying for delivery for a Indigo Ink Pearl 2002 SC430 w/ saddle interior. Below are the current specs:

Model SC 430
Engine 4.3l V8 Mpi Dohc
Transmission Auto
Mileage 124199

The seller told me that this car was his bosses wifes car and she recently upgraded to an IS 350 C. The current price listed is 12,900 and after negotiating, he would accept 12 flat but will let me know the final price after delivery and sales tax is included.

My question to you sc430 owners.

Is now a good time to buy or will the summer time spike for cost of this vehicle?

Also, is it a good idea to have Pep Boys inspect the car before clearing the purchase and delivery process?

Thanks,

SC430 is OK to buy all year long. I don't think the price will spike just because its summer. SC430 is one of the best car I had. I had minimal problems with NO major issues. I sold my SC430 couple of years ago with 178K miles and car was still running pretty strong except for minor things. My Tein CS Coilovers were starting to go along with speakers, some switches and few other electrical stuff but nothing major. I was thing about fixing everything and driving it for few more years but just decided to buy another car. My engine was running as smooth as butter.

Its always good idea to have the car checked out before buying.

The price is decent but see if you can negotiate the price little more.

Good Luck!!!

Anytime is a good time to buy a SC430! There is a great Sticky with plenty of advice on purchasing this vehicle. Here is the link : https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ned-sc430.html

The SC430 low volume vehicle, loaded with ( then ) state of the art electronics. While an inspection at Pep Boys might be less expensive, I would spend the extra money to have the car inspected at a local Lexus dealer. Repairing anything ( especially the electronics ) is a costly adventure. Any issues found by the dealer would carry more weight when doing the final price negotiations.

I'm not sure about the prices spiking (it is possible) but you'll likely find the availability goes down because there are more buyers once spring arrives.

Convertibles are priced lower when the temps are low. Bets bet to get 1 now!
