Is that with the traction control off? Cause that's what I get if I leave the traction control on. Even if the ESC light doesn't come on when you do a full throttle acceleration, the ESC will limit throttle. You have to turn traction off in order to get 5.8 which I've done easily with my g-tech.

That said, my tires never burn out like StillLine's, so he must be running more power than me or maybe it's just that i have stickier tires? My tires will chirp all the way through first and on the shift to second.

Perhaps a power brake first to get the torque converter really going would result in a burnout like that but I've never used the brake during takeoff.

Bacardi11 speaks the truth when he says it's all in the take off. I ran my 5.75 second 0-60 time at the dragstrip where traction is the name of the game.

StillLine

Also did 5.75s at drag strip. The silver bullet can spin the wheels if I try. Power brake launch and no crack. I should be going out to a private event on a strip end of month and perhaps another event on the road course. Why go fast with a SC430? It' s fun! I Love the comfort of the SC and now the speed and handling. I have learned a lot as well as having fun with the mods. As the car gets faster, my skills improve along with it.

Gene gives me great encouragement and tips that I appreciate. I joined SCCA and NASA where I learn a lot from other drivers. It is great fun when folks ask about the car. I get told it sounds great all open going down the straight and now I'm passing folks albiet in the novice group still ...

Do I want to take a few laps around a big track in a Porche 911 GT3 or a Ferrari 458? SURE! But I doubt I will buy one ...

I found with SC430's stock suspension and brakes, it is rather dangerous to go fast. Simply because the stock suspension and brakes cannot handle any spirited driving. It feels you will lose contol easily if anything happens.

I felt the same way, I think the car has high corning ability but the feedback discourages drivers to explore.

OEM Yes. So thus the point of many of the mods. I have upgraded the suspension with performance bushings, sway bars, coilovers, strut tower brace and the brakes with BBK in front and better rotors and pads in the rear. Lighter wheels, good tires, and added about 45 whp. The car handles great at 125 mph on a half mile straightaway. Havent been anywhere with room to go faster legally. On the drag strip there's now vibrations, mshaking, rattles - just crusing ...

For OP yes sounds slow but depends on a lot of things you can check DIY like clean air filter, clean MAF, clean throttle body, not set on snow mode etc. how didnthey measure your time is also a factor.

I’m surprised to see some of these 0-60 times for the SC430’s on the forums, i had a 2002 Egyptian Sand Pearl with the 5-Speed Auto and i got it to go 6.1 on the 0-60, recently purchased a 2007 Smoky Granite Mica with the refreshed 6-Speed Auto and i had gotten a 0-60 time of 5.21 with my buddy’s dragy, my car’s bone stock, just a brand new set of tires and experience with rev holding at 1600rpm and launching.

On newly paved asphalt, four new OEM struts, two day old michelin pilot sport a/s 4, warmed tires, I got 6.99 s from a dead stop at idle, power mode. No brake torque.
Good enough for me.

Speedometer videos are not to be taken as evidence or proof. Its one of the least accurate methods of testing besides just counting in your head lol.

Car and Driver 6.0
Edmunds 6.7
Motor Trend 6.1 et 14.5
Motor Trend 5.8 et 14.3
Zero to 60 Times web site 6.1 et 14.6
Top Gear 6.4 to 62 mph or kph probably in the rain who knows, lets discount them
No one said the track was prepped with traction compound. That would only slow the car down. You have to have tire spin to get into the power band. I haven't noticed any uncontrollable wheel spin. I get 15 to 20 feet of wheel spin. That seems about right for a takeoff. Track prep would help out with much more power lower gears larger tires and a 4500 rpm clutch drop. That doesn't apply with SC.
Drivers are assumed to be professional test drivers using accurate timing equipment.
They didn't mention power braking or turning off trackion control. Being profession testers I assume they did have it turned off.
On average discounting Top Gear time comes to about 6.1.
By today's average 0 - 60 times it ain't so great.
There are variations from car to car. Congrats to those of you with your exceptionally good running SC430.
