Default Twisted Seat Belt

I just bought a beautiful 2004 sc430, one owner, looks new....The drivers seat belt is reversed, it twists across your chest. The Lexus service man said it would be around $800 to remove the back seat to get to the retractor and reverse it. I tried pulling the seat belt all the way out and then twisted it and let it retract, but once the twist goes through the slot, it won't retract....Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

I can't believe the dealership actually quoted you $800 to do this!!! I bet you that they know about the simple way of untwist and just didn't want to help you. A big red mark on this dishonest dealership.

Amosandand, have you thought on approaching the dealership and speaking to the head person in charge to make them aware on the quote you received? And also letting them know there is a simple fix. There is an old saying, "You don't know what you know until you ask!" I'm a firm believer in letting people who are deceitful know that I'm onto them. Just remember, there are hundreds if not thousands of hard working honest folks who get taken daily.

Good idea. Also, perhaps you'd consider posting the name of the dealership here as a heads up to others in California.

This is one of those situations where I'm not sure if they're trying to really pull one over on the OP, or if they're really that bat-s$it stupid to not know how to do this.

The biggest problem is...I can't figure out which one is worse!

I tell you what, even Jiffy Lube guys know how to do this, and be part of the "customer service" I bet you they won't charge a dime to customers. I worked in a Toyota dealership for 6 years and even the car wash guys know how to do this. We will not charge the customers for doing this, I know for sure I didn't.
Besides, if you really reversed the twist from the belt end, it still will not be right.

$800?!! Who's the service manager - Mr. Ben Dover? I'm with Darth on this one, go right to management and show them the quote ansd ask why should you return to that dealership.

Dang it, this was the thread I was looking for 30 min ago, I found the answer on a baby car seat forum! LoL

Same directions with the same result!

Both of my belts have been twisted since I purchased back in Jan15.

I was using the incorrect search words!

Both belts are corrected now!

Default GREAT ADVICE! Works like a charm.

Have an 05 RX330 and the front passenger seatbelt was twisted. Couldn't figure an easy way to fix it and wasn't going to the dealership. This worked perfectly... THANKS!!
