Gas smell in my 430
Hey, First off to all of you that responded to my first post where I was scared after my purchase of a higher mile SC, thank you for bringing me to earth. I just received her and pics will soon follow. I do, however have a smell of gas in the car when running A/C, anyone run across this issue??

If it is only while you run the AC, then I would guess you have a fuel leak in your engine bay (A very bad thing to have)
Open your hood, take off the plastic "Beauty Cover" and see if you can smell where it is coming from. It is most likely a hose or hose clamp, but it could be from the injectors.
If you have the smell and the AC isn't running, then I would check under you backseat, where the access port to your fuel pump is.

Are you sure it is the smell of fuel? Sometimes it’s a smell of mildew which is treatable with can of Lysol spray directly into the vent inlet.

It was gas smell, last night and today, strangely I do not smell it… maybe it was just sitting a bit at the dealer and needed driven. That’s insane but possible, I guess. Thanks all

get the car checked out throughly. it sounds like it didnt have the best service history, or was just never driven.
Give it an italian tuneup (dirve the ***** out of it) after you change all the fluids and have it looked over by a competent mechanic.

If a scent gets into the A/C vents, sometimes it takes a while for it to clear out, as I can testify with regards to skunk smells after passing a skunk or being behind an old vehicle that appears to be attempting to fog the neighborhood... Perhaps it was idling around the vapors or near a vehicle that was not fully burning its fuel and the vapors just got into the system. If the smell comes back, have it checked out but if it stays away, it probably sucked in some 2nd hand vapors.

That’s a thought. I would think the cabin filter help there but maybe not or who knows when that was changed even…. I will not panic now and hope the full inspection I have scheduled Monday comes back okay

Great video, wish mine was that easy, the damn airbag on/off switch does not let me lower the glove box .. if I put that to off position, could I remove that without any airbag surprises?

But it seems like you should be able to do it. the airbag is not usually armed when the ignition is off. If you are worried, you can always disconnect the battery and wait 10 minutes.

Harold your comment is gold to us Aussies! A skunk! wahahahahahha
I thought the buggers were confined to cartoons. They exist in such numbers that you can detect their scent? Hilarious!

Absolutely and during the spring, they pop up everywhere, at least here in Texas. Roadkill skunks everywhere that leave a scent that lasts for over a week. I try to remember where they are and turn off my a/c before I get there and wait a little while after passing them. A strong skunk scent will make your eyes water and nose burn.
