Default That is a Deal!

Not bad, if you can do the Seats, the Headrests should be a Cake walk. I mentioned the 3m Tack Spray, works great to attach Leather!

The tape is 3m Quieting tape, purchased from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Would have another person hold one end of the tape as you run the length of the Headliners, makes it easier!

I put a couple of turns of Tape on both front locking Clamps! Also on another small area noted in fromt!

You can instal the Tape in any order!

This the best 24.00 I ever spent!

Busy bee today also attached some images of my Detail: I was up at 2AM, did the detail in my Garage in the following order:

1-Car was already machine polished
2-Coat of Z07 Chemical Guys
3-Coat of Jet Seal
4-Coat of Butter Wax

Then replaced my Rear head rests due to shrinkage in Leather, purchased them on E-Bay!
Then went into my Driver Seat to get rid of a noisy Spring, Dang those screws to take of the back cover of seat, are aB*** To get off and on!

Enough for now!

Glad too help, finally giving back to you all who have helped me in my new SC issues!

My Best!
Bob
Bob big thanks. With all the noises and I have been hearing, this DIY holds a lot of promise to at least keep some of the noises checked.

Can you please describe how you actually raised your roof and stopped it? And how did you recover (put the roof back to normal operation)? That is the unknown for me.

Thanks a lot!

Default It was simple

Hi,

I was in my Garage, I sat on my Drivers seat, ignition turned to on without starting the Engine, Hit open button till Roof Top was aprox 50% open. The point I stopped at was when the first part of the Roof was about 3 feet away from the front windshield! Turned off Ignition and installed Tape as noted. This will also allow you to get the back Panel to install the 2nd run of Tape to Headliner!

You will not see any tape when the roof is closed.

If I can do it, anybody can!

Hope this helps!

Default Also Recover

Just as I did with these Pics for the post, after I finished, I recovered by closing Roof fully down, then close roof!

Bob, great, thanks.

1. Turn on Ignition ON
2. Open the roof to about 3 feet away from front header.
3. Shut Ignition ON to OFF.
4. Apply all tapes
5. Next steps....

Thanks a lot...

I have some creaking noises when going in and out of driveways. Thought it sounded like static or an interruption on the radio, but I will double check when driving it later. hopefully it can be remedied by something like this thread.

You are right on with the noise you are getting going in and out of your Driveway! Mine also did that! The Convertible Top is the issue and my DIY fixed my issue!

Finally got hold of some Krytox and I applied it on the front seals. And I must say the creaking noises coming down and going up on my driveway (I have a steep driveway), seemed to have disappeared. I just applied on all the rubber surfaces and into the crevice where the latch go in, very light.

Today I will take the SC out and see if I still have no creaking noises.

Hi All,

Krytox works very nice, however the 3M Tape was the real fixer for the creak noise for me. I have not heard a creak since installing it months ago!
Keep us posted on your findings!

I am headed to the 3M tape. That means I have to strip the Krytox before applying the tape...):

Hi,

I too did the Krytox first, helped but the Tape works! You probably won't have to clean off much of the krytox, since the tape adheres to the headliner panels! See pics... in this post. Just the 2 clamps in the front, clean them, and wrap around 3 times on each Claw.
I did use some alcohol wipes to clean the headliner before installing the 3m Tape, tape has not come loose at all!! The only place I had to replace tape was on Claws due to opening many times, but that takes only 2 minutes.

Good Luck and it is worth the 40 minute job to have silence!
