Is it possible to turn off antenna when CD is on?

Hold down the RDS button on the CD player til' it beeps.

 

I am wondering if its possible to disable the telescoping antenna ENTIRELY, even when the radio is on FM. The radio has another antenna in the windshield, so perhaps that's enough to get a good signal.

I assume that to turn off the FM antenna I would need to manually disable it somehow (like a hardware modification). Any thoughts?

 

You can disable the antenna by taking the trunk interior out and unplugging the harness from the antenna. FM will work, but AM will not...mine was unplugged because previous owner installed an XM in it...I replugged the antenna and it started working...

 

The rear antenna is not just AM. That's why when you change FM stations, it automatically adjusts by moving up and down in small increments.

 

It is on the radio and says "RDS". It may be different if you have a later model or a Soarer.
