Can anyone please explain where this sound in the video clip might be coming from and how to repair it? much appreciated
second time I am asking
Is your car a sc430 ? Iam bit confused, I thought your car was a sc430 ? In your profile it says its a LS 430.
The video clip does not look at all like the dash of any year sc430 I have seen.
I realize that the video is not one you provided but that you said the noise is the same as in the video
Who ever provided the video its not of a sc 430 Thats my point. If its another car Ls 430 etc Then maybe that forum has an answer

Reason: Fixed quote brackets
Sounds like it is likely your fan motor. It could be on its way out unless there is a way to lubricate it, which is unlikely. Does the noise ever occur when the fan is off?
Thank you for reply. I have the same question: What is frangistrand? Car is Lexus GS 300, 2001.
Switching the mode does not help.
The noise comes from the front, passenger side. Here is the link to listen: SOUND HERE
same issue here, got 2001 gs300, its on the dash driver console, intermittent vibrating sound. with ac on /off, no change. I'm curious about the radio nav door, I have an aftermarket Doubledin system, please help! thank you
Just about positive it is the A/C servos. It happened on our GS300. There is quite a bit of info on CL on where they are located and how to renovate them. If you choose to replace with new, price can reach $1500.
Can you tell us the duration of the sound? Is it always the same length before it stops on its own? That's a clue and might tell us whether it is the cover motor cycling to close the Nav door.
If you kill the ignition, does the sound immediately stop?
Yes sound isn't on unless vehicle running. It sounds like it's in middle of dash on top. Comes on intermittently
I'm having this same sound from the video clip posted on page one in my SC. Did anyone ever conclude that it was a bad servomotor and which one? Thanks in advance for all replies.

Interesting. My 2002 SC has an intermittent noise that occurs for a variable duration once in a while. After playing your video, it is clear I have a different problem. Mine sounds something like a "grumble" or a live animal crawling around in there. High probability is AC mix mechanism. Any similar problems reported?
After a full diagnostic from the Lexus dealer my CD player stopped working and the Nav door stopped closing - both occurred right after they fixed my top-closing problem. I noticed the issues on the way home. The dealer was called immediately, he is a good guy and wants me to bring it back. As soon as my calendar clears up I'll do that. Looking through this thread I saw vipergts' video of his noise. Mine is nothing like it. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to attach my video files here, get message saying they are too big. The heater controls, when off, make this grinding noise, and the Radio comes up with more grinding when you turn it on, and when CD is selected I get a ERROR3 message and no music. Cassette and FM work fine but still have grinding noise from dash. My TechStream is on the way. Hopefully that can tell me something
