Still on the hunt. I found a nice 2006, but could not get around the 130k miles for the price.

If anyone finds or knows of one in the midwest, let me know. I am in KC.

Thanks,

There are 50 2006 Sc430's listed on cars.com right now for $45000 to $19000. I didn't check the areas but I'm sure some are in the mid-west. Most are dealers but some are private sales. Any and all mileage- 5k to 130k.

That was a big factor for me. So far 108k on a 2002, zero problems. All the rest of the "updates" you can put on yourself. I think of it as my "Bently" or "Rolls" hand built and going to stay bone stock.

I believe that a car which is hand-built usually has MORE problems. I trust the accuracy of machines more than that of a human being. I think there is no greater proof to this than the Bentleys and Rolls before being acquired by VW and BMW respectively. They were in the shop way more than they were on the road! Also, I don't know much about the 2002s except that they had a lot of issues compared to the later models (just browse through these forums if you need more info). Typically auto makers re-design parts that are known to fail. I had a 97 Jag xk8 that had its engine timing chain secondary tensioners re-designed three times before the car went out of production in 2006. In 97 they were all plastic and often failed. Then for gen 2 they made the post out of metal (some still failed), and finally on gen 3 they made it almost entirely out of metal. There were also 2 gens for the water pump. Gen1 had a plastic impeller and gen 2 had a metal one. For 2002 sc430 there are 39 TSBs put out by lexus. For 2007 there are only 4. Check out the NHTSA web site for details.

I went looking, found a few close but no cigar, my dealer kept calling us in when he got one coming. told him anything but black cause wife didn't want a black car. In the last 4 months we have turned down numerous 430's and just today got the 06 because of electronics and lights. Now we passed on a 06 with 15k miles cpo for 37000, an O3 with 53k miles for 24000, and a few others but bought a granite with ecru 50k miles cpo for 33000...keep looking, you will find one.

You do realize that you are unlikely to get a response. This is a 6 year old thread.
