@ Harold....the radio works...or has all day! But it's been under 90 degrees all day. I think I can expect it to go out once it gets warmer. But it will give me some time to get over the trauma I've endured at the hands of my selling dealership!

@VBob--thanks for the tips on what he needs to get to replace amp himself. We will be rereading and printing out pages before we attempt. He's pretty handy at car stuff. Just he didn't want to mess up anything dealing with this 430. Like Mike says...this isht seems fragile.

The quote Lexus gave me was full 90K mile maintenance pkg for $1100. I asked that since I already had the oil changed, all fluids checked, and wheel balance and alignment...couldn't he take the price down. He said they should do it anyway...they being Lexus Concord.

When I told my fiance that I had called and they quoted that price, he hit the roof. He said he will be changing spark plugs, fluids, he knows about different oils needed. He said to leave everything else to him because I don't know what the hell I'm doing, calling everyone and getting folks confused...LOL!!!! He has some type of 1964 Buick 225...he calls Deuce and quarter. He restored it from the junk yard. So he knows a little bit, but I just wanted to follow the book by my car.

But I definitely agree with you and bf that I will let him handle servicing, because I would spend the 1K and think that was a good deal. And I've owned a 2005 RX, but had no where near any of the confusion I am having with this.

The "big" service intervals on the SC430s are at 30, 60, 90 etc thousand mile increments. If fluids were recently changed and you told the service writer and THEN he said to change them again...run away...run far away.... He's already up selling. For example the interval service includes cabin filte. A filter can be purchased for about $20 bucks maybe a little less. Lexus will charge you about 60 to install it...even though it's a five minute job for an inexperience intern and less than a minute for a master mechanic. You can do it yourself for free. If you have your owners/maintence manual check the service schedule...if not you can order one at http://drivers.lexus.com along with getting the car's Lexus maintenance history. Finally, remember you are he boss...if you say don't do this or that ...be firm and don't let them talk you into something you know you don't need.

Isn't the 90K when the timing chain is replaced?

It depends on what year your car was made. The earlier models were recommended for 60k. Of course, we don't know if that was because of different materials being used or that enough was learned over the years to allow that number to increase.

If I remember correctly, the service rep at Lexus Concord stated that the timing belt wouldn't be changed until 110K checkup. I'm almost positive he said it wasn't the 90K. And he had all my prior service records for the vehicle and knows what I listed as the current mileage.

The reason I mentioned the timing chain is that may account for the sky-high cost of the proposed service...

On another note, Felicia, check out my antenna pis on the Sirius installation thread.

That's true...maybe it is included because he was talking pretty fast.

We are actually looking at the hand scale you gave, and looking up the pricing for unit.

thanks

Timing belt jobs at a Lexus dealer can run anywhere from $750 to >$1200.. Just depends.
