I had a similar issue with my 2004. I took both rear headrests off as described in the post that Bgw70 gave above. I took them to a local auto upholstery shop. The guy told me that the leather had shrunk due to sitting in the sun over the years. He said that he couldn't stretch the leather as it was dry and brittle. He recovered with new leather. He even copied the stitching (I think he said it was a French seam ??) and they look great. He had the right color of leather on a big roll under his bench. He did both for $80 and he did it in a couple of days. I think I caught him when business was light and he had the correct leather on hand from a different job. A different color might be more expensive if it has to be ordered.
