Default Window rubber trim part numbers?

Ok, I promise I did search lol. The rubber around the window above the tweeters is torn, causing wind noise. The edge of the glass pokes through with the window all the way up. Can I get a part number/drawing? (BTW, in my car this is a big contributor to wind noise - I put duct tape around it and noise was greatly diminished.) Just to be sure, it's on the door itself, not on the body around the door. I couldn't find it in ALLDATA, which, by the way, I've found has not been very much of a help at all. And again, many thanks. I really appreciate the very able assistance.

If I earned a dollar for everytime I heard that....there is a six page thread in this forum covering that exact topic with diagrams and solutions. Try searching again using the Advanced Search tool. Clue: search on these two word: weather seal ...you'll find it.

The Sewell Lexus price for Club lexus participants is $37.45 per side.

I have a 2002 with the same issue, but I haven't replaced the weather seals yet, tried putting duck tape around them but it didn't hold LOL

Just got around to installing mine today. It does look like when the window comes up, it stresses the new rubber seal and will probably tear again with time. I thought about lowering the window adjustment, but the window seal has taken an impression and if I lowered it, I would get wind noise along the top of the window. Guess I'll leave it as is and see how long the new triangles last. Took me about an hour to do the two sides.

Poqman,

I'd recommend going ahead and lowering the window just a tad to where it just kisses the rubber otherwise the weatherstripping will rip probably within 6 months if it is really stretching it. Been there, done that. Adjust it to where the rubber is either just straightened out or barely stretched and it will last for a long time and have no noise. You can probably adjust each window in about 30 minutes or less.

Let us know how it goes,
Harold

Harold, looking at one of your earlier posts on this subject, I get the impression I can adjust the height of the window with 2 white adjustments you point at. I'm just not clear if these adjustments are on the bottom of the window track or on the door near the top edge. If I move these adjustments, does it affect any of the other axis of movement? Any words of wisdom?

The two white points are actually the plastic sheet with a white dot on them that covers the bolts. These two bolts adjust the stops / restraints. I'd recommend measuring the extra travel in the window by holding a ruler or something up against the weatherstripping and measure the top before and after raising the window to determine just how much you want to lower where the window comes to a stop.

Then pull the plastic coverings off of the adjustment bolts, place a piece of masking tape (or something similar) on the frame next to the bolts and mark where the middle of the bolts are (or one of the edges, whatever you are most comfortable with). Then make a second mark below that mark by the amount that you measured that you want to lower the window stop by.

Loosen the bolts, move them down to the new mark and tighten the bolts. (Be sure to move both, not just one.) Then try the window again. It may take a couple of tries to get it where you really want it to be.

It is at this point where you need to avoid the mistake I made and close the door as much as your set up will allow to verify that the window will indeed clear the door openning and is fairly level along the top.

After that, button it back up and check it out once more.

To answer your other questions, no, these two bolts only adjust how high the window will travel. They are both at the top where the fingers are pointing in that picture (post #72). They catch the bottom of the window when it is rising. The window ECU recognises that the window has reached its upper limit when that happens and turns off the motor.

Hope that helps,
Harold
