Radio antenna problem on 02 SC430

It should come right out once you starting pulling...sounds like the teeth are torn up and now jamming the mechanism. Is someone helping you with the procedure? i.e. pressing the buttons on the radio while you're pulling up when the antenna reaches its highest point.

sc 430 antennae
i followed the directions and pulled out the antennae but the cable with the teeth did not come out with it. the cable broke off at the mast and is still in the drum. how do i get the cable out or can i just feed the new cable and antennae in.

If part of it broke off in the motor, you'll have to get to the motor. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that but it seems like there was a thread on that some time back.

On second thought, try this TSB thread to eject the antenna first. You might get lucky and it will eject the rest of the pieces.

Glad to see that you were able to get it fixed. Did he say what he did to fix it?

I've replaced both main speakers in the door kicker panels. Wasn't very difficult. Just be patient and locate every fastener holding the panel to the door. BTW the button panel on the arm rests comes out if you gently pry it free. Then disconnect the cables from it before pulling the door panel free. Good luck! My next adventure is fix the antenna and blown rear speakers in mine.

he took the trunk partially apart (he said that you don't have to take it apart completely to get to the antennae motor).
he would not use an after market antennae and charged me $150 labor and $75 for a new lexus antennae.
i think it was a very fair deal.

Back from the archives, MOONDOG needs this thread.
Moondog, there is a pdf here showing how to eject the mast.
You maybe be lucky and just have a mast issue, in some cases there are gears broken and will require a tear down of the trunk to get to the antenna.
Good luck.

Here's the link that I used to access the antenna motor since my mast was broken inside the motor. If you wind up doing this make sure to pay attention when removing the screws from the antenna motor casing which screws have nuts on the opposite side vs. screwing into a threaded flange. Made me crazy for about 30 minutes figuring that one out!
