Taking a closer look at the pictures, I can't see this going into production without a significant redesign. There's no front bumper. The fenders extend out past the hood and wrap around to the grill. Makes for a unique look, but probably wouldn't pass safety standards.
Not everyone in the SC430 forum spends time in the car chat forum. And since this is a likely successor to the SC430, it's appropriate to have a discussion here.
I have to agree...this concept isn't doing it for me. I think it vaguely resembles the audi R8 and IMO the R8 has a much better-looking exterior than this. I believe that is the type of car that lexus would be competing with, which would make the speculative base price being $90K or more (the base price for the 4.2L engine being around $125 and the 5.2 engine is more like $150). I know the Mercedes SL and the BMW 6-series do not resemble this car too much, but it seems to me like those would be their competitors and I can't see this concept doing well in that market.
I am going to assume that if it goes to production it will share some of the design of the new 2013 GS. I see what they did with the bumper to meet regs but I am underwhelmed (too toyota "safe"). Perhaps it looks better in person.
