Was surprised to see this in Road & Track mag. Here I thought the 57 ford was the first retractable hardtop. I found this article and pic and also found that the Peugeot was the first mass-produced hardtop convertable, there were many others that never made it to be mass-produced. That's pretty cool. I didn't know there were so many. As a kid, I thought it was just the SC430, Mercedes SL, Cadillac XLR.
