Any Info on the RC Convertible?
I cannot find much of anything on the upcoming RC convertible. No one knows anything. The dealer indicated it will come in 2017, but that is about it. No mention of whether it will be a hardtop (like the SC430) or a soft top. Does anyone have ANY additional information?

Maybe some insiders can tell us more than the teaser info from last year:

I'm pretty sure they've already said they won't be producing the convertible. It's a shame we have to put up with the extra weight they built in to our cars in preparation for it.

The RC Convertible is the ONLY thing on my current wish list...

The last time I went to the dealer they told me the RC convertible will not happen. Instead they are working on different interior options. I was told they are changing the touch pad, to incorporate what the previous models had with the mouse type navigation and the touch pad combined. They also told me, to compensate for a convertible model, the new SC is in production and should be out by 2016 -2017, whether that is true or not.

I have asked the corporate rep several times when he comes to our dealer. There is no certain answer. He just doesn't know for sure. They may say no but later change their mind. In my 3 years as a salesman, it seems Lexus likes to keep everyone off base, even its employees.
Right now they are not working on it. Other cars are priority right now.
RCF, RC200t and RC350 (remember Lexus always does a refresh after 2 years)
GS200t
LS (we need a new LS badly....really badly)
SC (the most exciting project in years....even more exciting than the LFA....because we knew it was unattainable to most).
Verts don't sell well. It isn't a priority. But at Lexus, you can count on them not coming out with a definitive 'no' on the project.
As an enthusiast, I'm not happy about the prospect of seeing cheaper versions of our premium cars all over the streets.
As a salesman, I am excited that cheaper versions of the RC and GS will be available. Enthusiasts make up a small demographic of buyers. Mainstream buyers care less about power and performance. Just look at BMW. 328's sell more than 335's.
