Radio Diagnostics Mode
I've been accessing the lexus-tech europe site, and it states that you can
"Starting Diagnosis Mode (Service Check Mode)
1 - Turn off the audio system, and turn the IG switch to ACC. While pressing the preset switches '1' and '6' at the same time, press 'Disc' 3 times.
2 - Beep sound is given 3 times and the system enters the service check mode
etc ...."
It then goes on to display the details on the radio panel.
Anyone tried doing this at all - I couldnt get it to work unfortunately....

Its not giving the service mode - or the three beeps.
I probably wasnt clear enough, let me say again

I've tried this as described but can't get it to work - nothing - display stays blank and no beep sound.
Anyone got it to work ?
And on another matter regarding TSB's
I've got the TSIB issued as 'AU001' and dated October 2001, but I see there is another one issued as AU002 and dated April 2002 - anyone got this they can post up ?

OK I tried the same procedure and nothing. I broke out my FSM. It has the same steps and I went through it exactly as described in the FSM and nothing. So it's not you.

Can anyone confirm the instructions for entering the radio diagnostics mode ?
There may be a typo in the instructions, so has someone ever got this to work ?
From a technical perspective, if its NOT my ML amp thats gone, is there anything else it may be ?

Got the service check mode to work - but using the Navigation screen as follows :
Turn nav on, and press the 'Display' button below the screen.
Touch the corners (within the box) upper and lower three times and a service check menu appears.
I entered this, and it could see all the devices, but had NCON against the amplifier - so this is no communication to the ML - which this really narrows it down to that device rather than any sub-system.
This may be EU specific in its function, not sure on that one.
My question now, is are the ML amps the same throughout the world regardless of LHD/RHD ??
I'm having trouble sourcing one in the UK, and will try overseas models, but bit concerned that some of the wiring diagrams have different connections for LHD/RHD.
Any advice from anyone ??

Did some checking there are two possible amp in the European theater... A Pioneer (Model GM-8117ZT/E or GM-8117ZT-91/E) or the Mark Levinson version. The only way to tell which one you have is to take a look at it by pulling out the luggage compartment garnish.

Well the trunk is in bits, and its certainly the ML one.
So should be same kit worldwide ?
Rang a dealer today to obtain price for new part - and they quoted me £1700 (including all sales tax). I guess installation is an hour tops.
Crazy prices.
I thought I'd have a go removing myself, and its too fiddly to be honest.
I did notice that the amp was quite warm, with the fan coming on/off - in spite of not actually being in the car for 6+ hours....
There is a US based repair service - but really need to get something local...

In that case, get the part number off the amp, and match it to one of the several for sale on ebay. In US dollars, less than half of the 1700 pounds you've been quoted.

Continuing with this story, the ML amp won't shut down getting hotter and then the internal fan kicking in - overnight this has discharged the battery - luckily I have a spare to install.
I've removed the AM2 30A fuse from the fusebox in the engine bay - will this cut all power drain to that device and stop the draining ?
Bit strange how the radio won't power up with the key out of the ignition yet the ML amp still takes a current (guess its to cool it down after a power drive ??)
