Cracked windshield

Well, I have joined the club of cracked windshields. No stone hits or trauma, just went for a nice top down ride two days ago and put car in the garage. Wife and I were going to do a few errands yesterday and I pulled the SC out of the garage and on the passenger's side there is this 12-18 inch crack from the bottom corner of the windshield to the middle of the glass. Needless to say, I was shocked. I have read about these cracks on this forum and it appears there is enough evidence to conclude there must be a design flaw. My SC is a 2007 which I purchased brand new and have babied this car ever since. After reading many threads on this subject on this forum it certainly appears replacing the windshield is not a simple procedure. As we all feel about our SC's, I certainly want a superior job done while replacing my windshield. Pearlpower has furnished some great info on some procedures that must be taken. If anyone has any pertinent info on replacing the windshield, I would really appreciate your input. At this point, I'm very concerned about having just anybody doing this. Sure don't want more trouble down the road. If anyone in mid New Jersey had a good experience getting this done, please advise.

I was just looking over the FSM for windshield replacement... there are more than 30 steps listed including removing interior pieces and the installation of new rivets if done correctly.

If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance I'd use it and let your Lexus dealer do it. And....Damn the windshields are very expensive, just over 1K
