How is the optional spoiler attached? I like the look without, but if there are mounting holes, that's a non-starter.
Thanks,

There are several mounting holes for fixing the spoiler and an adhesive gasket. I tried to remove mine while fitting a reversing camera in it, but it appeared to be impossible without damaging it or the trunk lid. I fitted the camera with it in place.

I had a 69 Karmann Ghia convertible for many years, but sold it to do remodeling on my house. I never made the connection in the looks between my Ghia and my SC, but now that you mention it, I do. It's funny too that I don't see either car as a "home run" in the styling department, but yet, find both equally compelling to own. I wish I still had my Ghia and 67 deluxe Westphalia camper, as both have appreciated ten-fold since I sold them!

I also had both and have neither now. The Ghia was hit from behind while waiting to turn left The other car was going 70mph and pushed the engine into the back seat. My two daighters were in the back seat and didnt get a scratch. Impact was so great the windshield popped into the next lane and was alright till a car hit it. I also was un injured but wife had a back pain for a long time. Those little cars were tough!! The car that hit us was a huge Ford Marquis.
The Camper I transplanted with a Corvair engine. Wow what a difference two extra cylinders made.

Here's some photos of under the rear spoiler. 2 bolts with one plastic tab in the middle and two more plastic tabs towards each corner. Note the different styles of plastic tabs that hold it on. The two black ones can be squeezed from underneath to remove but the white ones have the plastic insert that stays attached to the trunk. Lots of that 3M adhesive tape as you can see, needed to use a thin piece of string to saw/cut thru tape before attempting to pull out spoiler.
Ironic that I bought my SC430 because it reminded me of my Karmann Ghia. I have a 1958 and a 59. Not only do the body lines remind me of it but also when driving the SC430 the shape of our interior wood dash and air vents remind me of the Ghias glovebox and ashtray.
