Has anyone used a Valvoline shop to replace the Transmission and PS fluid?
Hey Guys,
The tech at my local Valvoline Instant Oil Change shop is telling me their transmission fluid exceeds the Dexon III fluid specified by Lexus. But I hear other folks stating not to use anything but Dexon III for the tranny and power steering. What's your opinion?? Thanks.

Hello-please do a search on this. I just posted something on this not too long ago and we have discussed several times. I have personally used them to do a full transmission service and they were wonderful. I did extensive research on this and posted my experience, costs, etc.
The short answer is Yes, their Dex/Merc ATF is compatible and meets/exceeds the Type IV ATF required by Lexus/Toyota specs. It mentions it here:

And on this chart...

I recommend them highly if you just want to do some "a la carte" fluids but don't want to get a loaner car, travel to the dealership, wait, etc. and pay high dealer charges of course! I got the tranny flush, coolant flush, p/s flush and rear diff flush for like $400-$500 I think all while I had some killer tacos for lunch next door!
If you need other stuff at dealer done, I'd use them and find some coupons or watch for deals...they do run them from time to time.
Hope this helps. Do the search-you will see my original posts.
