Unhappy Noisy Top Operation.........

With less than 6500 miles on it, my Top makes so much Severe Noise when putting it back up that it's downright embarassing to do it in a crowd of people. I've taken to stoping it just as it starts to head into the Windshield, and let it glide the rest of the way under it's own momentum into the Locks, then pressing the "Close" button to complete the rest of the process.

When the Hard Top is stowed, there is a Severe "Clunking" sound emited from the Trunk, that sure does seem to be getting much more pronounced, as time goes on. The Service Tech has indicated that nothing seems abnormal about the operation, nor the noise.

Is anyone aware af any TSB on the subject?

Any one aware of this kind of problem, or is my Car the only one with this Noise Problem?

No noise problems here.

I have about 3500 miles on my SC and the top has gotten a LOT of exercise, but still sounds the same now as it did when I first got the car last year.

Huh? I can't believe that you guys don't have the same problem.
My top clunks into place going up & down.
I do the same thing WJ does when it's going up.
Going down isn't too bad, because it just hits the bumpers.

Agreed, it's the same as when I got it.
And when I asked the dealer about it, they said it wasn't any different than others they've seen.

I agree it should be a bit more graceful seating itself, especially putting the top back up.
But until someone can identify that it's a problem that needs to be handled, it works good enough for me.

I may ask the dealer again next time I go in.
If anyone else finds anything, let us know.
