Line Out Converter keeps melting
I have replaced the factory sub with a 4 ohm Pioneer shallow mount sub and a rockford fosgate amp. I put a line out converter in to transmit the signal as suggested here https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...all-sc430.html
The problem I'm having is my line out converter seems to get really hot. The first one I installed literally blew up.... the second I mounted in a more vented area away from anything else that could get hot but I still smell it melting every so often and the plastic shell is melting.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks in advance!

If you're connecting to the amp's speaker out, is your converter rated for 8 ohms?
Most car stereos use 4 Ohm speakers/outputs. Most home stereos use 8 Ohm speakers/outputs.
The ML system in the SC430 is 8 Ohms.

I'd abort before you cause more damage and go with something like these polk or JL woofers instead:

*****Check out this thread...this is the BIBLE for SC430 speaker jobs:

That is the link I referred to also.
"As you will see I replaced the factory 16 ohm sub woofer with a Polk Audio 4 ohm powered by a MA Audio amp. This gave the system that much needed punch in the low end."
This is what I did as well, except I used the pioneer 4 ohm sub and a RF amp. He too added a line out converter, so maybe his is able to handle the 8 ohm signal?
"Since the head unit uses a balanced output I decided to go with a line out converter to the front L and R mid/sub speakers for the new sub amp."

The line out converter I have is PAC. I pulled the install manual online and went to the trunk and checked it out. It's wired correctly, however I did notice the two brown wires were grounded. Per the instructions, those two wires need only be grounded if there is no sound from the amp. So I ungrounded them to see what would happen, and the amp still played. So perhaps that was the problem. I'll keep in eye/nose on it.
