I wobble sporadically anyway and have on all my vehicles with oversized tires. Whether it's first thing in the morning (called the warmup wiggle) or between 50-60mph (called the highway hop) they all seem to wobble a little.

I get them balanced and rebalanced and rotated and rebalanced and nothing works "perfect". If you are looking for perfection in aftermarket wheels then get a chrome set of OEM wheels, LOL. I've added aftermarket wheels for 15 years on my cars and can never get them to be "perfect". Maybe that's why mfg's don't put 22"'s standard on my FX35 and 20's standard on the SC? mmmmmmmm???

Did you use these spacers on OEM wheels? Or aftermarket?

Can explain the tape thing please?

I have not used aftermarket on any of my cars. I upgrade them but I select from the same OEM's, usually bigger and/or wider rims. Since these are OEM's they are 18's at the most. None of the 20's.

I was using the spacers with oem sc430 wheels.

In the attached picture, I put electrical tape around the lip that I circled with yellow...it's the lip that's supposed to be the exact same size as the one on your brake rotor. Mine were not the exact size, and I could jiggle the spacer around in the wheel a little bit. So I wrapped some tape around the lip until it felt snug, and it made the vibrating better. Lasted the whole summer too lol. I'm sure there's better ways of doing it, I was just lazy.

Oh another thing to keep in mind is to tighten the spacers on properly using the star technique.

We are limited on the SC...18". g-spiders and tourmalines if you want to stay OEM or a few other choices. Some folks have done chrome (Solman, John) IS rims that look nice. No upgrades in sizes...19", 20" oem. Not like the old days where you had 15" SC300 wheels and could move up to the SC400 16" rims.

I kinda wish they had some attrition for the wheels with Lexus. Strange they don't go higher. I guess the ISF wheels might be 19"?? I think so.

Infiniti makes a 17"-21" wheel and even a 22" for the QX now (different bolt patterns), but as far as staying with OEM if you bought a cheapo G25 sedan 17" you could hypothetically go all the way up to the special edition 19" G35S wheels....

Same thing with the FX. Mine came with base model 18" and I COULD have bought the FX50s 21" Enkei wheels for about $3k alone plus tires would have set me back $4k easily, but I opted to get my wobblers for $2k including tires (Verde Kaos 22") and love them. I've just gotten used to it over the years. To me it wasn't worth the extra $2k in cash and plus no chrome in those 21" FX50s wheels either. To your point though mandyfig-they probably wouldn't have wobbled!!!

***You know, I take that back a bit....my last FX35 2003 had 18's standard and I bought 20" OEM wheels from Infiniti (who knows, maybe they were refurbs or something???) and THEY wobbled too!!!! After 3,000 rebalances and two sets of the same tires, I gave up and lived with it. Discount tire road forced as best they could but as soon as I left they wobbled between 50-60mph on the highway and according to the dealer and discount tire they "sometimes just wobble with oversized wheels/tires". LOL Tell me anything!!!

In my experience you can't beat OEM wheels when it comes to durability. I've had some nice aftermarket ones in the past and nothing has put up with as much abuse as my old Infiniti G35 19" forged wheels. Even with 30 series rubber, those things took potholes like a champ, and were pretty light too. I think I'm on my 4th set of nissan/infiniti oem wheels at the moment

Thanks for the pic. Might try this. Sure will make it look good. I need the rear to stick out bad.

Funny you say that...in the past 15 years the 2005 G35s 6mt is the only car I did not change the wheels on! LOL Those 19's were outstanding. Should have kept that car.

To gain almost an inch, you will need the bolted spacer mentioned earlier.
At what thickness do you think you'd have to move to a bolted spacer? I saw these 15mm thickness (.59"), which would decrease the bolt thread by 15mm. Would there not be enough thread left on the bolt for it to be safe?

For anything over 10mm, I'd want to get extended lugs, or a bolt on spacer. One of the reasons you don't see bolt on spacers smaller than 15mm is because the original studs would protrude through it too much, and hit the back of the wheel when you mount it, possibly not allowing it to seat properly.

Personally:

0-9mm = normal hubcentric spacer
10-14mm = extended lugs and normal hubcentric spacer
15-30mm = bolt on spacer

Talked to a couple of buddies on M3 forums and G35/37 forums who have spacers and they said hands down get the bolted spacers for easy plug-n-play hub centric. It's worth the extra money hands down. They also said that Discount Tire is full of it regarding safety, but on both cars they have more exaggerated fender wells and more of an arch that the SC's so I need to consult with my suspension specialist in Frisco (LSin75075) to see what his thoughts are!

Thanks and let us know what you find out. I am really interested in getting the bolt on spacers. My SC needs it bad.
