Default Random Front End Knock

Today on the drive home, I came to three stoplights and right before I came to a complete stop I heard and felt a knock. It did not do it again, and I had no troubles stopping.

Anybody have any idea what it could be?

I think you have the caliper shift issue- there is a fix it kit available for your car. I jut sdont have the part # available right now- do a search here. It's not uncommon for your car.

The brakes are the most likely suspect. Typically, you will hear them clunk when you back up and stop (basically reversing your direction and then using your brakes). There are a couple of threads here on the forum discussing how to deal with that. However, if yours only clunked once, I can't be sure that we are discussing the same issue.

I saw the caliper shift posts and I am not sure if that was what happened.
In my case, the car was driving fine and right as the car came to a stop, I felt and hears the knock.

Could that be the same issue?

Oh, and I have not heard or felt the same knock since then.

I guess my big issue, is should I be worried about driving it.

I would not be too woried about driving it, but then again- we have not heard the noise ourselves. And yes- the brake caliper issue is more than likely the culprit. If it is the case- you are safe to drive the car. Just get it taken care of.

If it is the caliper issue, there is no safety or reliability issue. Some dealers will tell you that all the cars do that and then won't do anything about it. (Don't believe them.) It can be fixed. It took me a couple of years before I found intelligent life out there and got it fixed. (Actually, the intelligent life came from a tip from this forum. I took that to an independent Lexus service center and they used the information to rectify the problem.)

I've actually heard this a few times on my Sc too. Its pretty subtle and sounds like a lil knock when i press the brakes. Is it the same noise?

No, mine was not very subtle. It was right as the car came to a stop and it sounded like the shift lock on the transmission(I don't think that was it, it just sounded like it.)

I've heard it too. Usually when the car is cold. Dealer thought it was an adjustment to the front end which fixed it for a while. It later came back but I could not duplicate it when I went to the dealer.

Default What is the caliper fix?

My dealer only lubed the springs or something like that. Came back a few months later. Can't find any other suggestions on here, maybe I'm not searching right.

What did they lube it with? I believe that the shop that did mine used a copper based grease, IIRC.
