Help with my addiction
Hello, I'm new to the group and I'm a recovering Lexus shopper.
1 It started in 2002, when my wife said she liked the SC430, so I got her one for Christmas.
2,3 Then came the AWD RX330 , which was kicked to the curb when the real SC came
4 The trick to make an old car look newed, park an older car next to it. I used an old faded 88 MR. You can really see how faded it is from the back but you can in the last picture 5.
5 The old faded MR2 then looked so bad, I spent a couple of hours bringing back it's shine. It is a different hood and no Photoshop at all, thats the old school paint. Now I can sell it and start saving for my SC 430. I'm thinking Matador Red in a couple of years. Carmax has a 06 with under 40k mile for $33k. I so want it.

I guess it is possible that the pigment oxidizes at a different rate, but I would think it would another simpler solutions, like people don't wax their red car. The wash it, polish it, then stop when it get shiny instead of finishing the job and waxing. Its going to show worse on one color, it so happens to be red.

Do you have to attend meetings to cure your addiction? Or just go to Lexus dealers and not buy anything. I think I might have the same addiction. Just went last week and looked and almost pulled the trigger on a '10 RX350. But didn't. Or at least not yet.
I hear you on the '10 RX. Used one as a loaner while the sub was replaced in my SC. Really a great car! Would be a good replacement for her infiniti ex in a couple of years. The only thing her ex has that the RX doesn't is the hard drive for music, but that nav in the RX is sooo cool. Joy stick with the nav sunk in. Loved it. At the time the RX was about the same price as the ex, but infiniti discounted the ex 11K-a deal you could never get now. It was a brand new model that didn't sell. Love that new RX-WOW!

Tromly, it appears that 04 was a very good year. I would think that by now you should have your "addiction" under control. Yeah I know, under control but not cured. Somethings never change, and I'm glad. I do believe you have something going on with the color white also. lol
Thanks, there is something about old paint which is more durable then the clear coat nowadays. It was surprisingly really easy to clay. It took about 3 hours by hand. Clay ,rubbing compound, Maguire polish, then some silicon polish which turned out to be a mistake, so I had to try to get that stuff off before I waxed it.

Tromly, I hear you, I'm in Sarasota Fla. now with the obsidian ES, and it doesn't take long to get very hot inside with the windows closed. And you're right about the white. Next one will be white or silver. Yeah, I know you can never match if in an accident.
