Default Rear Emblems, how do I take them off?

the emblems on the rear of the car, around the edges, it looks "crutty".... I want to wax underneath the emblems. What is the easiest way to take them off? are they screwed in? or will Dental floss work to pry them out?

thanks....

Floss or monofilament will do the job. A little warmth from a hair dryer will soften thing up. No screws just sticky tape. Goo gone to get it all.

The center L emblem is fixed with a couple pegs that go through the trunk.

and lots of patience. it took me about 2 hours to remove the badges and then another rubbing compound session to buff out all the little scratches.

stick with it and you too will be badge-free and better for it!

the hair dryer made the adhesive softer, but it also made it stickier. it went faster for me when i just went with floss. then i picked most of the adhesive off by hand. then a little goo gone for the residue. then i waxed it until you couldn't tell it was there. took about 45 minutes for me.

Jimmer, which rubbing compound did you use? I spent more than 45 min. on mine and still couldn't get all the 'ghosting' to disappear. I was afraid to go further, for fear of rubbing through the clear-coat....

actually, I got this product tip from our forum:

Four Star Products
MGP Machine glaze and polish

http://www.fourstarproducts.com/16ozmaglandp.html

works like a charm. a true mirror finish.
I hand polished the 'ghosting', but I bet a machine would
do it even quicker and easier.
this winter, I intend to machine polish my entire 430.

congrats on the debadge.
now, to finish it off.

btw: don't forget to debadge the front grill.
a single bracketed screw is all you'll need to remove.
the entire L badge pops right off.
I use a little dab of a magic marker to black-out the hard to see screw bracket.
then, the 430 takes on a real concept car look. very nice.
and lastly, I've saved all the badges (for a future owner, I guess).
