While 90 miles plus from my house my RL developed all kinds of errors. Pulled codes and found a misfire. Pulled #6 plug and the tip was GONE. Went to the local auto parts store -I hate those places-and picked up a new set of plugs. Still have them in the GX, need to get around to removing them.
Unsure of any serious cylinder wall damage from the missing tip, hopefully it got pushed right out the exhaust. A fluke? Who knows, just never had a plug lose a tip in my chamber before.
CAMAracer, it sounded like you might have damaged the plug wire pulling it off of the spark plug, especially since the problem stayed with the same cylinder after moving the plugs. (Plug wires can be damaged by pulling too hard on them now. They make plug wire pullers to help eliminate that from happening.)
Oh, our cars uses coils and they are made sturdy. None of them were damaged.
I eventually narrowed it down to one plug, after switching plugs, cyclinders, and doing it over and over with stock and Pulstar plugs. I eventually bought two more plugs and the problem went away. Not sure, but maybe that one misfiring plug caused the others to misfire as well...I also was hesitant to torque the plugs, so I made sure to tighten them this time around.
Oh, don't know if it had anything to do with it, but I had heard that the spark that is generated by the plugs can interfere with electronics (such as sensors). So I relocated one away from the engine. So somewhere between switching plugs and relocating the sensor, the problem went away.

Your range will depend on what kind (or mix) of driving you do. However, having said that, we do have one member that gets very exceptional mileage on a consistent basis that no one else seems to have matched. The majority of folks get between 19 and 21 mpg average (on the display).
