Driving alone I swore I heard a rattle coming from the passenger door. Had someone else drive and rode in passenger seat, couldn't hear a thing.
Sometimes it wouldn't make a noise, other times every bump sounded to me like the door frame was going to fall off. Usually change would occur after I had a passenger or a big change in weather temperature. Dealer checked it once, tightened up the door and it was gone for a few days, then it was back again. Went back to the dealer today, service tech drove it and confirmed there was a rattle, BUT it was the passenger seat - hence when someone is in it you didn't hear a thing.
The fix was to put leather conditioner between the crack of the seat back and seat, worked like a charm. The sound didn't seem like rubbing leather, but the problem is fixed 100% and the tech said this has been an issue on other Lexus cars with the leather seats.
Wonder if other reported door rattles might be the same thing?
I went through something similar - and ever time the service manager rode with me .... no rattle. Sometimes just touching seat stoped it (I will try another round of conditioning too).
I also had different rattles when the top was up or down. Lots of combinations to try out. I may have to spend all summer in the car!
