Default Check engine light - anyway to read code from nav unit?

Hi,
Noticed the check engine light on today (big surprise that my wife who normally drives the car says she hasn't seen it on lol).

Anyway, car is driving fine. Wondering if there is anyway to read the code from the nav unit or similar.

Thanks!

No you need an OBD-II scanner, I bought one for £20 but did not work as my car was an import. If you have a domestic car should be fine. If you go in a Lexus/toyota dealer that will probs read the code for you FOC. Or even a nice garage should do it FOC as it only takes a second.

Its probs an 02 sensor needs replacing.

Call first, but most national parts stores (AutoZone, Advance AuPEP Boys) will hook you up to a scanner for free.

That's right, as they are vying for each other's business, only takes 5 minutes and it is free !!

The check engine indicator information is in the owner's manual. I have had the light to come on when I did not fully tighten the gasoline fill cap as directed. It can be reset by disconnecting one of the battery cables for a few minutes.
