silicone ?? help!!

Default silicone ?? help!!

so i went to go get a oil change today and they said there not aloud to touch it because silicone was spread around something. the they said that i need to buy a new oil-pan.
can the problem be fixed without buying a new pan ?

Where is the silicone ? Is the oil pan Leaking ? What are the missing detials . Silicone can be removed . Question is "Why Is It There In The First Place " I would go to lexus and find out whats going on !!!

i'm not sure i just got the car a few wks ago and just tried to get a oil change. but the guy didn't rly look he new what he was doing. but i'll just check it out at a dealer

personally, i'd go to toyota and have it checked. it'll cost half as much.

If it's the threads that are bad, there are things on the market that can repair the threads without installing a new pan. If it's a hole in the pan they might be able to patch (weld) it closed rather than silicone it. Would be more of a permanent fit. I would think less expensive also.
I would also go back to where you bought it any ask them questions. Did they change the oil? Did they do the fix? Did they know about the fix and do nothing? Did you see it yourself. Guy might have not wanted to do the job and made up story. Or didn't have an oil filter so told you about silicone.

yea i think the guy didn't know what he was talking about i took it to a shop they jacked it up and showed me. the only thing that happened was i must of hit a paint can when i was driving and there was a lil bit of paint underneath. but everything is good now and i changed the oil. thanks for the advice tho

I agree, always 30% cheaper when I compare my Toyota dealer to my Lexus dealer. Since I wash my car myself why spend the extra money at the LEX dealer.

Glad the forum members were able to help you out as you saved a great deal of money by not purchasing a whole new pan.
