damn dealership wants to charge $65 to change the CBEST settings. car has only 7K on it, and the original owner i bought it from 2 months ago never change the CBEST settings either. dealer told me that they only do it for free within the 1st year of the original purchasing of the car (too bad the car is an '07). you guys have any ideas on what i can tell the dealership to convince them to do it for free?

Just called my local dealer, Lexus of Englewood, to ask how much and told me no charge. He said come right in

HID highbeam?
You probably need to disable DRL first, then you can get a 9005 HID kit.

I was waiting literally less than 10 minutes for them to change the settings. For them to ask $65 is robbery.

can you by any chance give me the name and phone # to the dealership you went to... and the service advisers name (if you have it). ill try going back to my dealership next week and ask em again to do it for free and if they ask for $65, ill just let em know that your dealership is doing it for free, so they should too!

I asked my dealer, Lexus of Seattle, and they said it would cost $54 and I could do any of the personal settings at the same time. They told me to look online at the list of settings. Now I did not see DRL anywhere on the list. Is the turning off of the daytime running lights on the personalized settings list or is CBEST different.

Thanks

Look at Brah Pitt's post above (post #30); the 4th CBEST setting on the list is for DRL's. My dealer didn't charge me at all; if you take your car to your local dealer regularly, they shouldn't charge you, as it takes all of 5 minutes to do.

i called my dealership about a week ago asking for them to do it, and they said it would be a charge of $65. after actually calling back multiple times, talking to other service advisers they agreed to do it for free.
just call around, and you eventually find somone thatll do it for free.

I can not believe my service adviser wants to charge me $54 to do this. I have an 07 GX that went over a boulder that entered the road way on a mountain pass hwy. Long Story but it resulted in a comp insurance claim and 12k in work to the dealer. That was 3 months ago. You would think I would be a pretty good customer in their mind.

I may need to remind the manager of that when I puck up my GX next week. I have a little technical bulletin or something being done to fix the suspension lean it has from the incident and they did not reset it then.

By the way DH I wish I could find a set of those wheels you have. Those are my fav oem wheels for the SC.

If all you want done is the DRL lights shut off, then that is crazy. I tell you it takes no more then 10 minutes. I would try to speak to the service manager.
