Don't particularly like them, but Function drinks (http://www.functiondrinks.com/) have a notch around the bottom 1" that fit to the foam in the cupholder.

Purple mud in the styrofoam,

sounds like the cup holders are not deep enough. I can do some pretty hard cornering in my GS with a tall red bull and no issues.

WHAT IS THIS I AM HEARING?!? You people actually drink in your Lexi?! And you call yourselves Lexus owners. Pffffttttt!!! Btw, I totally agree, especially with my 1rst gen SC, but it seems like that was one improvement Lexus didn't deem worthy to put in the next gen SC's.

Yeah, for such a big car, it sure doesn't have that much interior space. My '95 SC has a surprising amount of space for a coupe, but you 2nd Gen SC guys lose a lot of space to the folding hard top.

Seems to me the member who uses the velcro on the bottom of his holder and bottom of his mug has it aced.

I will use this suggestion...............after 6.5 years with the SC I have yet to trust the holder and rarely pop the lid.............my deal is a sealed bottle of water on the passenger seat or wife's lap..............

Thanks for the suggestion.

Happy 2009 to all you SC guys.

BMW pullout cupholders also suck very badly..I think they however show you a picture clearly stating NOT to use a Wineglass

LOL! Most cars have a disclaimer in the manual telling you not to use the cupholder while the car is in motion. Not sure if my GS manual does but the cupholders aren't the greatest. I think Jason702 might be on to something!

Smile Cup Holder Solution for SC430 Lexus

I used superior strength velcro at the bottom of my Lexus' cup holders as well as the bottom of my favorite 24oz Tervis tumbler. Works perfectly!

Be happy we actually HAVE cup holders! According to Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear, the LFA doesn't have any! Although, he does rate it as the best car he's ever driven. Whoohooo! Good to know after his off-base review of the SC430. I attribute it to Grumpy Old Man Syndrome (GOMS).

There are a few water-type bottles out there that fit quite snug in the SC430's cupholders. (Naked Juice bottles work well also.) We recently found a metal bottle that works well also, but stick with the short one. (I'll have to go and check who makes it.)

I've considered modifying the cupholder to allow the bottle to go down deeper into the console supplying a more stable setting. But after looking at it, I realized that the cupholders actually hold the bottles/cups over the ledge of the console so it wouldn't work.

I've also considered creating a cupholder that sits down inside the SC430 cupholder and would be taller, but then I'd have to install it everytime that I wanted to use it (and stow it the rest of the time). Sounded like too much of a hassle.

Drinkin' and Drivin' don't mix! I like the Velco idea however.

Yea, but with the top up, I can fit a *LOT* more in my SC430's trunk than my SC400's trunk.
