Great pictures...thanks....that helps a lot!

I can see why you added the piece of foam to those metal end brakets.

I'm tempted to grab one of these if there's a group-buy.

If you take your hand and push down on the seat back at the same time pushing down on rear of seat bottom you will see the dots [ 4 ]. The dots are just there as a sort of marker as to where the metal anchors are located. When you find the dots just slip your hand inbetween the seatr back and the seat bottom and you will feel the u shaped metal anchors.
The anchors are really there for a child restraint seat . These anchors are where you attach the wind screen straps to. There are also anchors behind the rear seat headrests also were intended for child seat restrainer. The headrest anchors will be used to hole the wind screen down at the top

Red seats = pimento red 2005 pebble beach model

+1, excellent idea Habious

Another thing you could use to put on the metal rests is 3/4" stryrofoam pipe insulation, cut two pieces about two inches long and push it over the rests. I also cut two pieces as wide as the straps that go over the headrests and opened it up to protect the head rests. Also cut pieces about 1" wide for the other attachment points (child seat) to protect the seats. I paid $2.74 and got a pieces about 4 feet long. So there is plenty left over to replace if pieces get lost or deform over time. Can be had at most home improvement centers.
