Default urgent,,

so im driving through death valley today. the odometer turned 20 k miles i s top in baker for gas ... when i restart the maintenance required light on the dash pops up and stays lit, is this a dealer only shut off if so il get it done in so. cal. cause service sucks in my home town.. p.s. im on the road any help will be great i can check email in am as im at a hotel.. p.s. thanks in advance...

Not sure why your light is staying on but when mine come on at normal intervals I do the following. 1. Make sure your odometer is in regular mode (not trip mode). 2. Turn your key to off. 3. Hold odometer switch in and turn key back on. Hold for a for a few moments until maintenance light goes out. This procedure works for me but I haven't had the light stay on, it just flashes for awhile then goes out. Hope this help.

Isn't 20K the normal maintenance interval?

try buying a univeral code reader they are about 60.00 and they are worth there weight in gold they will tell you what is wrong before you go to the dealer that way you know if there are messing with you or not, not only that you can reset the computer and see if it comes on again. sometimes it could be a one time conditional thing.
