I guess the rods but are the pistons still pretty good with boost upto say 450 rwhp. Im thinking of ordering some Lextreme rods as he has a $200 off discount for the rest of the month. But do you think I should also uprate the pistons as well?
If you are going to run high boost then the rods and pistons much be swapped out. But also make sure you have the transmission rebuils with beefed up internals. Plus, you will still hit the rev limiter on the car with any sizable hp increase which can be very annoying unless you less off the gas right before redline.
PHXSC, you answers have been posted several times. A search will get those for you. Also check the GS section as it shares the same drivetrain.

marcus
well it looks like things are the same big money for little increase in power or performance. Oh well..No turbo kit on one for me I totalled my almost 2 years ago. Also I realize it is to heavy of a car to mod.
Oh yeah Marcus, My current ride will already smoke the new gt-r so no worries there!!!
I went to the other end of the spectrum from luxury to street race car for the most part. I got a Panoz Esperante. They are hand built cars made by the racing team out of Atlanta. Made from carbon fiber and aluminum for those who don't know panoz. Mine is highly modified by both JRD the inhouse racing team and a tunner out near me in chicago. It started with a hand built cobra 4.6 and I had a procharger put on it with some other goodies. So depending on the tune I am running I put down around 600RWHP to the tires and weight of about 3000lbs. so yeah I guess semi beastly? Yet to find something to give me a good run for the money.

Am I missing something or is there just no way to get a middle-of-the-road perfomance increase with the SC430?
I know you can get 15-20 HP here and there with intake, headers, and exhaust. Seems like the next jump is this ($8,000 for the turbo kit and, if I'm reading your second link correctly, another $15,000 for a motor that can take it). Now, I know this option looks like it would be darn-near bulletproof up to 650 HP but, I don't quite need that.
How do I get 100HP more? Not 100HP more with plenty of room for expansion later; just 100HP up from factory.
I always thought the TOM's supercharger kit was a joke for the price vs. minimal HP gain ($12,100.00 for an additional 50HP).
Is there an answer without spending what I paid for the car AGAIN?
I'm not looking for the "cheap" option - $4,000-7,000 (complete, done, installed, out-the-door, driving-down-the-highway) seems like a resonable price to pay.
We've taken this post to heart. MVP Motorsports will be releasing 3uzfe VVt-I camshafts shortly in the vendors section, and they're directly in the price point you're looking for. Of all the engine mods you can do, camshafts make the most diffrence.
