I hope not, but while doing my homework prior to making an offer on an SC I noted that several comments in the Owners Discussion section of the Edumnds.com web site indicated that the car is particularly rust-prone. My early driving years in up-state NY have made me severely rustaphobic. Any truth tp these statements?
I've been driving my SC430 in Ohio since May of 2001, and I haven't noticed any signs of rust, nor have I every heard of that complaint. Be careful not to generalize from insufficient data.
Considering the source, Edmunds, I would not take much of anything that is said over there with much credence. Am not aware of any modern car that would qualify as a rust bucket.
I bought an 02 always registered in PA and NJ and I can't find any rust anywhere, not even on the brakes. Perhaps, it was always garaged and only driven in the summers. I assume these cars have been factory treated with rust preventive coating, like galvanized on the steel and something else for the aluminum.
