Default Oxygen Sensor Removal

I found a local mechanic who comes highly recommended and who has done some work on local SC430s (there are precious few of them around here). He ordered and received the sensor from a Lexus dealer who's about 60 miles from here.

Problem ... he was unable to remove the bad sensor (this is the front passenger-side sensor) because he didn't have enough room to manipulate the wrench. Naturally, I wasn't looking over his shoulder, so I don't have any other details on his problem.

Anyone have any experience or information about removing this sensor?

Thanks
EdP

Thanks rob...

That thread deals with the rear passenger sensor - a totally different animal replacement-wise.

I just helped my friend to replace the before CAT sensor on passenger side , it was harder than the rear one because it's close to engine and heat came out from manifold could melt the sensor thread , i cut the bad sensor shorter ( used 4 inch grinder with metal cut blade) then opened by regular socket and extension with 3/4 inch galvanize pipe about 2 foot lenght , i could turn it with less muscle , it took the same time compare with replacing the rear one because i did not need to make univarsal connector. Let me know if you have any problem

Ed, have him soak it for few hours in some WD-40 or similar product. Start up the and let the exhaust get hot and then try to remove it while everything is expanded. If that does not work, try it cold. As the old one is defective, cut the lead and loop the closed end of a wrench and try that to avoid stripping. Most likely will need to use another wrench on the end of the first one for leverage.

Should come out no problem.
