Speech Command System & Lexus Link System
I am still just learning about my '02 model SC430. I find no mention in the manual, button to push or microphones above the Navigation display indicating that this car has the speech command system that will allow you to operate the Nav system without using your hands. Thus, I guess it does not have this feature although my '01 LS430 does.
Do any of the SC430's have the speech command system? Or did Lexus believe that this feature would not be practical in a convertible due to outside noise? Perhaps, it is only available in vehicles having the "Lexus Link System". Which brings up another question, do any of the SC430's come with the Lexus Link System?

The SC430's came with the 1st generation Lexus Link system...which has since been discontinued and deactivated. So, if the car had it, it won't work anymore (there's a TSB out that has the dealers removing the system as no-cost).
The 05+ cars have the Gen 4 Nav system which does offer the voice-command feature for the Nav system (and I think the stereo too). The 02-04's don't have it because we have the Gen 2/3 Nav system.

Interesting but my 2001 LS430 is Gen 3 Nav
Hmm, it seems there is a difference in Gen 3 Nav Systems between the SC430 and the LS430. Yep, they removed the Lexus Link from my 2001 LS430, but the Speech Command System is still working.

I've seen rumors and "suggestions" here that the circuitry for the voice-commands exists with the Gen 2/3 system in the 02-04 SC430's and that you can hook up a microphone and pushbutton but, I've never seen anything that I would consider "confirmable".
It's mostly things like "I've heard you can do this".
If someone posts that it CAN be done...they've done it...and here's how you do it...I'd be one of the first to try it! That would be a mod worth having!
