OK - Manual says not to take top down if it is wet. Question is how wet is too wet, e.g., summer morning dew on car (not garage kept) - is it OK to take top down to drive to work?? Or after a rain and water is beaded up but not totally dry (and rain has stopped ofcourse)? Is this OK to take top down?

Also, what happens if you forget to draw the canvas cover in the trunk and open the top by mistake?

I'm sure it's okay unless you try and do it RIGHT after the car was in rain showers. The top will not retract with the cover not in place.

You've looked in the trunk when the top is down, right? Imagine the top in there with however much water is on it right before you lower it. If its just a little moist, you're okay. If its really wet, it is going to drip into the trunk. Somewhere between those two extremes is a judgment call on your part.

As to the canvas cover, the top won't go down until you draw it closed.

Thanks guys for the responses. Guess one uses common sense regarding wetness - as well as other things. Also, you can tell I am a relatively new owner (and got the car in the winter) because I haven't yet realized that without canvas pulled in trunk top won't go down!! Here is DC we are but weeks away from top down weather. Also time for Zaino.

Dude, we've had a zillion mid-50's days in DC this winter! Crank the heat, turn on the seat warmers, and LOWER the top!!!

You should just wipe any excess moisture off ie morning due, rain etc. Just carry a leather or squeegee.

Those synthetic chamois work really well and then just wring it out and put it in a Zip Lock bag and store it in the trunk.
I have had the top down every chance I get. Windows up, heater full blast and it is comfortable even in 48 degree Seattle weather.

Hey you in DC - Have done top down esp. in Jan. when got car and lots of upper 50's. Drove out beyond Potomac whenever I got the chance and felt like a million - even enjoyed cruising down 270 -everything in the SC is a joy!

Now trying to figure crate situation for back seat for my dog so I can take the SC on weekend dog activities into VA. Going to try a new type of soft crate. Other dog rides nicely on a cushion in passanger seat.

Not crazy - intended to use other car for the dogs, however I can now see that in my excitment getting the car I forgot that many of my weekend activities involve 1 or both dogs and I am wanting to take SC everywhere. Where there is a will there is a way!

I usually don't drop the top unless it's absolutely dry, driving top down is not an absolute necessity for me anyway ...
