Default 2010 SC your thoughts?

What are your thoughts on what the next SC (if any) will be like? With the Lexus Lineup becoming hybrids I would think this would be a viable option if they keep the SC line going. Any other thoughts?

tbh I dont think theres a big market for a convertible cruiser so I can see it quite likely to be discontinued. A sports convertible different story but then that would not be very Lexus.. so I cant see that happening either.

I think there will be one offering much more hp with more than one engine option. Easy to see one would be the hybrid. A 70K+ car should be offering in the neighborhood of 400 hp at a minimum.
As for the look. I'm hoping it is a cross between the current car and the old SC300/400. The curent car is bulbous but so stylish. All it really needs is the sleekness of the older model. I'd love to see some interior choices as well. The current car is very sweet but some would prefer a more sporting environment to ride in. Legroom absolutely needs to be improved to appeal to more or larger men. If there really is an IS type coupe, all bets are off. I would still like to see an SC but I'm not sure Lexus wants to offer more than 1 coupe car. Lexus copied Benz and Bimmer to it's lofty height. Why not copy some more. Both those brands have more than one coupe. Those coupes have different target audiences and have survived...even thrived. Lexus would dominate those 2 brands if it had similar coupes. Just look at the popularity and following of the old SC300/400. Lexus ruined that. If they had kept that formula, they'd have even more of those luxury car sales that are becoming so tough to hold with the skyrocketing cost of living issues.

So yeah, I want to see another SC.

I think they might disappear as well.

But if they do keep the SC, I would love to see a more sportier SC. I think Lexus needs a luxury sports coupe to help them stay on top. Something where you would look and say "damnnnnnnn thats a Lexus?!"

You guys know what I mean? or am I alone on this one?

^ The LS has always been the flagship.

I personally love the current SC. The next one (if there is one) would have sharper lines line the rest of the Lexus lineup

When is the current model expected to be replaced/refreshened? I pesonally love the 2006+ SC's in matador red. I would hate to see Lexus drop this convertible from their line-up. I intend to buy one next year or the year after. It would be great to see a 400 hp variant of the 4.6 V8 in it.

I can tell you this, if it wasn't convertible I wouldnt be interested. And I think Lexus has to have a convertible in its line up to keep pace with BMW, Mercedes et all.

Overall tho I don't care so much. I got this car thinking I'd trade up when they changed the styling but I'm pretty inl love with it. If I could goose another 30-50 horsepower (or the equivilent performance boosts) from it then I'd consider teh car perfect.

At the moment I have very little interest in what the next SC would be like though once released I will be, if that makes any sense. Why speculate on what I cannot change?

I would love to see the SC evolve, but standing back from a business aspect, the SC was never "profitable."

The SC430 did not appeal to the sports car enthusiast, which is what it was originally intended for when you look at the SC300/400. The SC430 did however appeal as a "flagship cruiser," which still does not attract a lot of people (hence the dwindling yearly sales) for the price it offers.

Instead of an unfunctional 4-seater 2-door coupe, it would be better off to have a "real 2-seater" sports car, such that of the LF-A; or even a stylized 4-door coupe alla CLS.

As far as having a hardtop convertible, you can get it for cheap nowadays, with the Pontiac G6 convertible, the VW Eos, and the Chrysler Sebring convertible (all of which is about $35k only). Yeah, it's not Lexus quality, but not a lot of people are willing to pay double the price...

I think there will def be a new Sc, wouldn't make sense to get rid of it since the LF-A will be mega expensive. I see the next SC still a hardtop convertible, but it will also have one of those moonroofs incorporated. It will be sleeker and probably a little longer. Should be quite the sexy tiger =)

Haha that's cute, but yes the SC needs to be slapped with the Finesse. Oh and I smell, SC460 =)

My hope is that they will do a replacement on the GS chassis. Keep it as a cruiser, not a sports car and give it enough power to be fun. I would like something like a retractable hardtop about the same size as the current car and at least the 460 engine but preferably the 5 liter engine from the 600h. Price it like the 460L and sell it as a competitor to the SL550 and BMW 6 series.
