Default Neiman Marcus edition SC???

I never heard of this before I came across this auction. Looks like Pebble Beach edition, what makes it so special???

it came out before the sc430 was even launched. special color (lexus first use of thundercloud), red interior, special wood, etc.

Gosh. Looks just like my car (inside and out - I think) except mine doesn't have the NM badge. =)

if anything, the NM edition is the rarest edition of the sc430. i think the only had 100 of these back then and sold out in minutes (or an hour?)

henry, youre right, it sold out rather quickly, all sold over the phone out of the NM catalog

it was priced about $10k more than the standard sc430

I won't pay that much more just for those minor cosmetic differences on that car, that's for sure

no, but keep in mind, this was a way for a customer to get their hands on a car immediately. the waiting lists at most dealers were one year or longer at the time, and normal production sc430s were bringing $10k over sticker, if you could find one.

I thought Lexus won't allow dealers to charge over sticker ?

they werent, but some wholesalers got in on lists early, got cars, then resold them to the public. i sold a car to a guy down in south florida, everything seemed legit, i even collected sales tax on the deal, then - BOOM - showed up on a used car lot. i had no idea that was gonna happen, but i still got a call from lexus hq about that one.

the factory basically told us that we should only sell cars to "known" customers that we are familiar with. i think they were just trying to police things a little bit to placate the huge south florida dealers who really got their drawers in a knot over it.
