Hello,

This is the second time it happened but the VSC, VSC off, and the ABS lights all came on at a stop light. Let me give you some background. About two months ago, a similar thing happened when I was waiting to make a left into a parking lot. All of the lights came on but the moment I began to accelerate, the lights went off. I happened to have a service scheduled so when I mentioned it, they looked into it and replaced my master cylinder. No problems until today when the same thing happened and again upon acceleration, the light turn off. Albeit both times the stop was an unusually long wait, easily at least two minutes.

Thus my questions:
1. Has anyone ever had this problem and if so what was done?
2. Does it look/sound like a problem beyond the master cylinder?

I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Wow, master cylinder? 99% of the time it is a speed sensor. Sometimes you will get all of those lights come on, other times just a few of them. Almost always a front wheel sensor.

I've had the same symptoms--i.e., dashboard lights turning on when turning left.

I ended up buying a new speed sensor for the front-right corner.

Thanks everyone. I totally agree that when he told me that it was the master cylinder, I felt it was a bit odd. I am taking the car in right now hoping they have a loaner. Again, thank you.

My 1st inclination, not knowing the SC that well was a wheel speed sensor.

Funny thing is that I took it in and mentioned that upon doing some research on the internet, it may be a wheel sensor and he just gave me this look like I was telling him what to do. This was not my intent so I just shut my mouth. He told me that the last time they hooked it up to the computer, there were several things that lit up and the master cylinder was the culprit. So, in keeping with shutting my mouth, at least I got a loaner: a 2007 ES.

Yes, I remember Henry, thank you.

Just a quick update. I got a call today and they told me that the ABS computer/unit is bad and I have to wait until next week to get it. I asked them if there was anything else, i.e. the wheel sensor, and they told me that they hooked it up to the computer and it told them that the ABS unit was bad. I still question this whole thing. Would a bad ABS unit turn on the VSC, VSC off, and ABS lights when I am stopped at a long signal? Ugh, I am scratching my head so much that I am beginning to lose hair.

actually, when lee and i said the speed sensors, i think both of us were referring to the abs sensor (well at least that's what i referred to. the sensor is sometimes referred to as speed sensor and sometimes as abs sensor)

with that sensor going out (or wire pitched), it could be that it's on and off so somtimes you see christmas tree on the dash and soemtimes don't

let's see if that fixes everything
