Default Radio/cd shuts off

Has anyone expericenced there factory radio shutting out when played at loud levels. I tried adjusting the bass to 0 or -5 and when i turned it up it will shut off until i turned the volume down. I took the car to the lexus dealership and had the amp replace, but the problem still exists. The dealership tells me that this is normal and there is nothing that can be done to stop this. This is B.S. because the problem just started.

OK, again, how loud is loud?

I have not come across this and have not heard of others as well, but I do not really crank it up all the way. Sometimes high, but not very high as I like to hear the engine.
If it was normal I would think they would not have replaced the amp to begin with.

What the hell are you guys talking about? The volume on our cars doesn't have 'numbers', or even 'bars'.

What does the radio display read as you are turning up the volume?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. That was one of the features I expected on the ML. I hate not knowing where the volume is.
Is this something I can change? Maybe pushing the volume **** for a few seconds?? Or did this feature disappear from '04 forward?? Inquiring minds want to know.

No. As you turn the volume ****, the display shows the vol number. The number lasts about 2 to 3 seconds before going back to the what was on the display before.

huh?! yeah, something must be off on your car JC (unless they didn't have this until later yr model, which i doubt). when you turn the volumn **** (or use your steering wheel control), a number will show up on the radio control. that's the volumn. it will stay for a short while and then go away.

My stereo has NEVER shown any numbers with the volume. And the owner's manual doesn't mention anything about that either. Must have been a change in later cars, no?
Oh, and is there a pic somewhere showing the numbers? I wonder where in the crowded (and small) screen the stereo volume shows up.

Does anybody with an '04 or older has volume numbers??? If yes, it's time to order a new one. Thx.

And hey, how loud you can play the stereo depends A LOT on your eq. settings, especially the base, and also the type of music. Never a straight comparison unless you're talking the SAME CD and song. Just a comment.

No worries. Mine doesn't have the volume number, either.
I guess Lexus upgraded both the Nav and ML firmware in 05.
