Creaking Roof
Has anyone found a solution to the creaking sounds the SC roof makes, particularly as the weather changes (or am I the only one with this problem on my '05 SC?)? Late this summer, I finally tried WD40. The fish oil in that product does help, but it doesn't eliminate it (after a week or so it returns). I put WD40 wherever the vinyl attached to the top meets with vinyl or anything else on the car body, and when it was warm, it helped a lot. It got really cold a couple of weeks ago, and it started creaking again pretty bad (it creaked over every bump or turn). If I put the top down and then back up, it would help for a while, but would return. As it warmed up this past weekend, it creaked to a lesser degree again (assuming parts expand with the warmth and creak less).
I have wondered if the whole roof can be "tightened", pulled down harder on the body parts? When I asked my dealer about this, all I got was a quizzical look!

I am not a SC owner but maybe this helps..
WD40 would dry up fast. Try some multipurpose grease and see the out come. Use the white color one in a can and don't apply too much because dust traps in badly.
Good luck!

i don't have any creaking on mine as well, dead quiet
but i can tell you using wd40 is a very bad mistake. like joe said, they dry up quick and you will get even worse results afterwards. you need to get water resistant grease or silicone, so you can put them on for very good lubrication, but at the same time won't get washed out by weather

I haven't run into this yet, but with the approach of cold, dry weather here in the Chicago area, I'll have my can of spray silicone lubricant at the ready. Really, I've found that the stuff works magic in quieting the interior of any car. It will eliminate most squeaks and chafing sounds (some of which can sound like something rattling). Just spray it into any of the places where you suspect the noise is emanating from, and in a day or two you'll note a significant difference.
Took my car in complaining about the creaking and dealer "adjusted and retightened" the hinges. Unfortunately, within a year later, the noise is back
I have yet to find a permanent solution.

I had them re-tightened/adjusted twice because they have a TSB for this issue.
However, mine always comes back with a new poping noise in about 6 months.
If I can redo it all over again, I won't go to dealer to have it tightened/adjusted.
You will be better off just grease it by yourself.

I had to complain to my dealer about this a bunch of times. Every time though they just use a temp solution like silicon so it always comes back. It's getting worse now as the weather is getting colder again. However, now I just won't drive it anymore when it's cold cause it drives me crazy. I'm real nit-picky when it comes to squeaks and rattles.
maybe you can go to where i take my car for services, highly recommend
Yeah, the creaking came back and it's driving me nuts. It seems the noise decreases when I open the window a bit. Anyway, it's an '03. Where do you take it. Give me a call and I'll give it a try. Thanks Henry.
